Abstract
Magnetic measurements have been made on small discs prepared from a series of prehistoric Indian pottery pieces collected from Southwestern United States. The specimens ranged in age from 600 to 1400 A. D. Thermal demagnetization experiments allowed the assessment of the potential use of these materials to estimate the paleointensity of the geomagnetic field. It is concluded that they are satisfactory for the purpose provided suitable methods are used and tests are made to indicate mineralogic changes. Keywords
