Enterogenous Cyst of the Ampulla of Vater

Abstract
The case history is presented of a 19-year old female with an enterogenous cyst of the ampulla of Vater. The patient presented a case of acute pancreatitis confirmed by operation. In a review of the literature six similar cases of cysts of the common bile duct – Alonso Lej type 3 – have been found. Only in one case was acute pancreatitis also present. The diagnostic utility of hypotonic duodenography and of intraoperative cholangiography are specially indicated. Some comments are made on the etiology, clinical aspects and treatment.
