Macular Disease and Amblyopia

Abstract
The amplitude of the visual-evoked cortical response (VER) elicited by stimulating one eye was compared with that elicited by stimulation of the fellow eye in one normal subject on 30 occasions and in 30 normal subjects on single occasions. The extent to which these responses varied was then used as a basis in evaluating the VER differences seen in patients with unilateral macular disease, refractive amblyopia and strabismic amblyopia. Significant VER differences were found in those patients with unilateral macular disease and in one patient with probable organic amblyopia.
