Extended universality and the question of spin on hierarchical lattices

Abstract

An extended universality principle for hierarchical lattices is refuted. The spin-independent aspect of universality is, however, retained. It is proposed that a distinction be made between a ‘‘weak statement of universality’’ and a ‘‘strong statement of universality.’’
