Abstract
P. norvegensis is described as the perfect state of Candida norvegensis (Dietrichson) van Uden et Farinha ex van Uden et Buckley. Strains of this species were isolated on 3 occasions from human vaginas. This species differs from other Pichia spp. that assimilate glucose but not galactose, sucrose, maltose, lactose, D-mannitol and D-glucitol by assimilating cellobiose.
