Generation of constant-power curves for three-terminal coupled-cavity lasers

Abstract

Plots of the two cavity currents (I₁, against I₂) for constant output power provide a quick characterisation of two-section coupled-cavity lasers. Two possible circuits for creating such curves in near ‘real time’ are proposed and demonstrated. Optimum bias points and modulation algorithms can be obtained therefrom.
