Abstract
Behaviorally determined auditory thresholds of normal monaural cats were compared with those of pinnaless cats. The removal of the pinna resulted in a significant loss of hearing, particularly at high frequencies. This loss is considered in terms of the pinna''s function as a funneling device and of possible changes in the resonance characteristics of the auditory canal. Keywords
