Abstract
Properties of negative-parity states of 45Ca have been calculated with modifications of the Kuo-Brown interaction in the complete fp-shell space. Reasonable agreement is achieved for excitation energies, ground-state moments and the gamma decay of excited states up to about 3 MeV, although problems arise with particular levels. There is evidence that 40Ca core breaking influences the structure of negative-parity states of 45Ca only above about 2 MeV, in contrast to the situation for 45Sc.
