Abstract
An overview of the relation between lipid layer formation and contact lens wear is provided, with particular emphasis on factors that influence the delivery and spreading of lipid on the tear film. The disruption of the lipid layer by a contact lens is discussed, as well as factors that may enhance the stability of the prelens tear film lipid layer. Keywords
