Abstract
The magnetic structure of monoclinic Mn ·4O has been determined by analysis of neutron-diffraction data on single crystals. A collinear antiferromagnetic structure was found in which the magnetic and crystallographic unit cells were the same. The spins were found to point neither along the axis nor along the axis (perpendicular to the plane), but in a direction intermediate between the two.
