Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 66-year-old right-handed woman was admitted to the hospital because of abulia, paraparesis and blindness in the left eye.She was well until 4 1/2 years earlier, when a generalized convulsive seizure occurred. Neurologic evaluation elsewhere, including x-ray films of the skull, a brain scan and an electroencephalogram, was reported to be negative; phenytoin sodium was prescribed. Another seizure occurred 17 months later, preceded by a sensation of vertigo, blurred vision and flashing lights.Thirty-four months before admission a progressive personality change was observed, and the patient became unable to perform routine household chores.
