Abstract
A rapid and convenient radio immunoassay for insulin is presented, using iodine131-labeled insulin of intermediate specific activity (20–30 mc/mg). The method is based on the in vitro system of Skom and Talmage for detection of insulin antibody, and involves precipitation of insulin-antibody complex by a second antibody against gamma globulin. The use of moderately labeled insulin is made possible by the relatively large volume of plasma conveniently handled in a test tube system. Application of the method to human and dog plasma is described. Keywords
