Abstract
In 158 gastrectomies, surface carcinomas were found in 10.3% of the stomachs; this lesion was almost or completely confined to the mucosa. All stomachs were removed for apparently benign gastric lesions. The histopathology is presented. In most, there were gastric ulcers, but findings suggest that these were not undergoing malignant change. Even with local early invasion of afferent lymphatics, there is generally a good prognosis for patients with partial gastrectomy. Keywords
