Anti-Reticular Immune Serum: Its Action Demonstrated by Tissue Culture Technique

Abstract
The anti-reticular cytotoxic serum (ACS of Bogomoletz) was prepd. by repeated intraven. and oral administration of spleen and rib marrow of guinea pigs to rabbits. Spleen fragments of guinea pigs and chicks were then cultivated in vitro with the addition of diluted ACS (1:10) or with normal rabbit serum (1:10) for controls. No difference was seen between the abundant outgrowth of chick spleens in the control and the heterologous ACS series. In striking contrast guinea pig spleen cultures containing ACS showed no outgrowth. These results indicate the strong inhibitory specific action of ACS on homologous tissue.
