Abstract
Folk medicine has recently attracted ever closer attention. The traditional experience of the world's peoples in the medical realm is now being studied on a broad scale in many countries. (1) Considerable interest in folk medicine is also being manifested in the USSR. It is being studied in the most diverse parts of our country (from the Far East to the Baltic) by members of many disciplines both in the natural and social sciences. Soviet ethnographers in particular have made no small contribution in this respect. (2) A national scholarly conference, "Ethnographic Aspects of the Study of Folk Medicine," held on March 10-12, 1975, in Leningrad, recently demonstrated once again the considerable attention being given to folk medicine by a broad range of our scholarly community. Keywords
