Abstract
In this paper a study is given about the initial stages of filtration at constant pressure from which conclusions could be drawn about the interrelation between cloth and cake.It was found that ‐ with one system ‐ two types of filtration may occur, blocking filtration and cake filtration, depending on the concentration of the solid substance in the prefilt: By increasing this concentration blocking gradually decreases and finally blocking filtration changes to cake filtration. With cake filtration at constant pressure the specific resistance of the cake depends on the concentration in the prefilt; decreasing with increasing concentration. An equation for complete blocking filtration has been derived. Keywords
