Abstract
The distribution of infestations of a sugar cane cicada, Mogannia iwasakii, in Okinawa Island is restricted within a small area at the southeastern part of this island. The microgeographical distribution pattern suggests the escape of the cicada population from predators in an infested area where the population density is unusually high and stable. There is not relation between soil types and the occurrence of the cicada.
