Abstract
Thermal expansion tensors αij measured on three ammonium and three potassium Oxalates, (NH4)2C2O4 · H2O, NH4HC2O4. ½ H2O, NH4H3(C2O4)2 · 2H2O, K2C2O4 · H2O, KHC2O4 and KH3(C2O4)2 · 2H2O, at 30°C exhibit a high anisotropy. The directions of maximum thermal expansion nearly coincide with the directions of minimum elastic stiffness. Negative values of the α tensor may be explained as due to Poisson contraction. The Grüneisen tensors derived from αij and the elastic constants show a considerably lower anisotropy.
