Abstract
A study was done to determine the relationships between particle concentration, egg infectivity, mouse toxicity, total N, and dry weight of crude and purified meningopneumonitis virus suspensions. Using allantoic fluid virus purified by centrifugation, the following information was obtained: 1 egg LD50 = 102.2 particles; 1 mouse toxic LD50 = 108.0 particles; 108.0 particles contain 1 ug total N; 1 gram dry weight contains 1013.2 particles. Trypsin treatment reduced total N and increased infectivity on a particle count basis. Crude yolk sac virus was significantly more toxic and infectious on a particle count basis than allantoic fluid virus. Keywords
