Abstract
Digestion studies with cattle and artificial rumen fermentation experiments clearly show that the increased salt concentration of the rumen caused by feeding high salt rations did not cause a decrease in rumen microbial activity. Both types of experiments show that digestible cellulose as well as digestible gross energy is not altered by the increased consumption of salt.
