Theory of Electron Impact Broadening in Plasma

Abstract
A quantum-mechanically consistent formulation of the theory of electron impact broadening in plasmas is given by using the scattering matrices obtained from closed coupling procedure instead of the classical path approximation, where the indefinite parameter of the impact radius can be removed. Typical calculations of neutral and ionized radiators are carried out for the hydrogenic system.
