Abstract
The formalism required to calculate elastic and inelastic nuclear scattering with excitation of collective vibrational and rotational states of the target nucleus is summarized. The mathematical techniques used to solve the resulting coupled differential equations with an electronic computer are given together with the necessary checking procedures. The results of some typical calculations are presented to show the dependence of the elastic and inelastic cross sections on some of the parameters of the model. Keywords
