Jet Engine Oil Analysis by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry with Graphite Filament

Abstract
Aqueous standards of Ag, Cu, Fe, Mg, Ni, Pb, and Sn were used for the measurement of these elements in jet engine and reciprocating engine oils by the graphite rod atomizer atomic absorption spectrometric method. The graphite rod atomizer method resulted in speed and ease of measurement, in excellent precision, and in good correlation between aqueous and organometallic standards. Excellent agreement between results obtained on Air Force SOAP correlation samples using aqueous and organometallic standards resulted for all of the elements determined.
