Abstract
The early stages of the development and formation of the ant. vertebrae and Weberian ossicles in Carassius auratus are descr. from the time of hatching till the adult. Numerous conclusions are recorded among which the most important as regards relationship is that "the condition of the embryonic Weberian chain in the goldfish is so similar to the adult condition in the Siluroidea that in all probability the indirect cyprinoid system has evolved from the direct siluroid system." An extensive bibliography is appended. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
