Syngas treatment of Rh4(CO)12 in 1-methylpyrrolidin-2-one gives a colourless solution of mononuclear tetracarbonylrhodate, Rh(CO)4 –, which is closely related to the active catalytic species that produces ethylene glycol.Keywords
