Abstract
After artificial infestation of field-grown plants of the peanut, Arachis hypogaea L., with eggs of the lesser cornstalk borer, Elasmopalpus lignosellus (Zeller), the larvae damaged pods, pegs, and plant leaves at ground level. The level of damage was associated with the level of infestation. Some distinctive types of damage may be used to evaluate plant lines having varietal resistance to the borer. The location of damage should be considered in chemical control investigations. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
