Thermal expansion in relaxor ferroelectrics

Abstract
Thermal expansion of PMN single crystals, modified PMN ceramics, and PLZT 8/65/35 ceramics was measured between 20 °C and 550 °C. Deviations from linear behaviour at high temperatures occur at about 350 °C, i.e. in the same region as for the index of refraction. This invar-effect is compared with the thermal expansion of glasses in the transformation region.
