Abstract
In the past decade, most major scientific meetings have developed mechanisms to highlight those research studies deemed to be of major clinical import by meeting organizers. For example, late breaking clinical trials sessions have been incorporated into 12 of the 17 annual meetings of US specialty societies. Presentations of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) presented at these late-breaking trials sessions are often featured promptly and prominently in the general media, on Web sites targeting health professionals, and in industry-sponsored mailings to practicing physicians who may not have attended the meeting. Keywords
