Abstract
A method for the quantitative determination of molecular species of triacylglycerols in highly unsaturated plant oils by consecutive use of different TLC techniques is described. Silver ion TLC in both analytical and preparative mode has been followed by reversed phase TLC to give results compatible with those obtained with RP-HPLC and capillary GLC. The method has been applied to corn and cotton seed oils. The number of the separated and quantified triacylglycerol species in these oils prevails those reported in the literature. Keywords
