Abstract
Dynamical R-matrix methodology is used to determine the properties of the recently proposed Jπ=2+, Γ=3.5 MeV, Ex(res)=40.2 MeV resonance in He4. The calculations lead to a Jπ=2+ state with the following properties: Γ=6.0 MeV, Ex(res)=40.3 MeV, and T=0. The calculations indicate the importance of 4ω components in the proper description of the 40 MeV state.
