Abstract
Diphosphopyridine nucleotide was irradiated with u.-v. light, and its coenzymatic activity destroyed. This inactivation was not due to accumulation of inhibitors. It was accompanied by formation of 4 products: adenosine diphosphate (the major product), adenylic acid, adenine, and nicotinamide, identified by paper chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, enzymatic assays and chemical analysis. Some of the nicotinamide rings are ruptured, and ribose is partly destroyed. Keywords
