Abstract
The positive aspects of drug use by the geriatric population are balanced by concerns about harmful effects of the drugs. Physiologic changes that accompany aging alter the pharmacology of many drugs, but problems of compliance, adverse reactions and polypharmacy are of equal importance. The authors of this article examine aspects of drug delivery in the elderly and make suggestions for improving prescribing practices.
