Abstract
Ulcerogenic tumors of the pancreas are uncommon. They may be implicated in approximately 10% of problem ulcers. The high incidence of malignancy and the frequency of multiple benign adenomas make total gastrectomy the most effective treatment. Proof of a gastrin-like hormone in these tumors as well as in their metastases emphasizes the role of a pancreatic hormone in peptic ulcer. Further identification of the hormone gastrin may lead to more effective measures in the control of the peptic ulcer. Keywords
