Scalar effective Lagrangian in de Sitter space

Abstract
Scalar field theory is considered in a de Sitter-space background and the effective Lagrangian calculated exactly using the proper-time regularization technique. The imaginary part vanishes and this result is shown to hold for all spins on quite general grounds.Keywords
