CT Differentiation of Portal Venous Air from Biliary Tract Air

Abstract
Computed tomography (CT) was helpful in differentiating portal venous from biliary air in a comatose man. CT also demonstrated intramural gas within the wall of the cecum and ascending colon, which was equivocal on plain films. Clinical features of portal venous gas are described as well as the role of CT in problem cases.
