Observations on the Stereochemical Outcome of the UGI Four-Component Condensation

Abstract
Investigations were carried out to explain the unexpected distribution of cis and trans products from the Ugi four-component condensation involving a cyclic imine. The nature of the transition state complex was deemed to be a determining factor. The influence of solvent polarity on the isomeric ratio of the products was also examined.
