Abstract
A variational basis with cylindrical symmetry is shown to provide highly accurate results for the lowest m=0 to -4 levels of a hydrogen atom in a strong magnetic field (B>2.35*105T). The simplicity of the calculation and formulae summarising the behaviour of the variational parameters make the results easy to reproduce. Keywords
