Abstract
Administration of tranexamic acid, given from tumor transplantation up to sacrifice 5 days later, inhibited the early vascularization of an i.m. transplanted rat sarcoma. A marked reduction of angiographically demonstrated vascular connections between tumor and normal muscle was observed. In older, larger tumors an increased frequency of small nonvascularized and probably necrotic tumor areas was suggested after administration of tranexamic acid. An inhibiting effect of tranexamic acid on tumor growth rate had been earlier reported in experimental and clinical studies. This effect may be explained by an influence of tranexamic acid on tumor vascularization. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
