Abstract
The cytoplasmic estrogen—receptor of the human uterus was examined by sucrose gradient centrifugation. Peaks were identified at 8–9 S and 3–4 S. The receptor was further characterized by salt dissociation and competition experiments. Dextran—charcoal assay revealed a maximal binding capacity of 7.7 X 10-14 moles/mg cytosol protein, and a dissociation constant of 4.4 X10-9M. The characteristics of the estrogen receptors in the cytosol of the human uterus are similar to those reported in other species. (Endocrinology91: 594,1972)
