Abstract
A cantilever of I-section subjected to both normal and shear forces at its free end is considered, the sense of the shear force being such as to cause bending about the major axis, and a lower bound for the collapse load for any ratio of normal to shear force is determined. The results are presented in the form of interaction relations between the shear and normal forces and the bending moment at the clamped end of the cantilever at collapse. Keywords
