Abstract
Dust grains, which carry a net electric charge, may be driven out of the galactic disk along magnetic field lines by radiation pressure of starlight. Large scale mixing or escape of the dust occurs along closed loops or open field lines, respectively. Mixing and escape also occur by means of instabilities of the galactic disk caused partially by radiation pressure on the grains. These processes could lead to the occurrence of a significant amount of intergalactic extinction. Keywords
