Physiologic tremor

Abstract
Physiologic tremor was recorded in normal subjects and in patients with neurologic lesions, revealing a frequency range of 6 to 12 cycles per second. The tremor amplitude was reduced by loss of proprioception and by ischemia to the limb, but the frequency remained unchanged. Tremor at rest was recorded in the anesthetized dog, and, although the amplitude is reduced by dorsal root section, the tremor persists even though the spinal cord is removed. It is concluded that tremor at rest is a ballistocardiographic effect, as is also probably the case with the physiologic tremor of voluntary muscle contraction.
