Abstract
Allelopathy, better known as plant chemical warfare, has had a checkered history in the field of ecology. Now, as Fitter explains in his Perspective, new evidence supports allelopathy as a mechanism for the successful invasion of natural habitats by exotic plant species such as the Eurasian spotted knapweed. Keywords
