Abstract
A review is given of recent efforts made in our laboratory to study secondary grain boundary relaxations by electron microscopy. These include : [1] search for secondary grain boundary dislocation (GBD) relaxations in Coincidence Site Lattice boundaries : [2] search for secondary GBD networks in Near-coincidence boundaries : [3] detection of line structure due to secondary relaxations in Plane Matching boundaries : and [4] studies of the faceting and the preferred orientations of grain boundaries during annealing. Efforts [1] through [3] involved attempts to observe the fine structure of the boundary directly, whereas [4] was related to the energy of the boundary as a function of its orientation, i. e., structureKeywords
