Introducing triage to a new department

Abstract
This paper will discuss the setting up of the ‘triage’ system of care within the new accident and emergency (A&E) department of Tameside General Hospital. A definition of triage will be given, along with an explanation of how this system of care helps nurses to appreciate the individual needs of patients and their relatives.
