Abstract

In 30 female albino rats trained to make an avoidance response following the sounding of a buzzer, it was demonstrated that stimulus intensity as used in this shock-avoidance situation had an influence on the form of the generalization gradient. It would appear that the tendency to respond may be a joint function of the difference between the training and test stimuli and the intensity of the test stimuli.
