Abstract
A note from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, appearing elsewhere in this issue of the Journal, indicates that there has been a marked increase in diphtheria in Greater Boston during 1946, a considerable portion of which has occurred since September 1. In recent years diphtheria has become a rare disease in Massachusetts, and during the past decade many physicians have not even had the opportunity of studying clinical cases during the time of their medical-school training. Control of this infection has been attributed largely to immunization programs that have been universally adopted throughout the Commonwealth.Preliminary laboratory reports . . .
