Electron Microscopic Alterations in the Central Nervous System in Experimental Lymphogenic Encephalopathy I

Abstract
Electron microscopic investigation of the caudate nucleus of rats 5 days after ligation of the cervical lymph vessels and lymph nodes revealed profound structural alterations of both nervous and glial elements. Mitochondria became swollen, dendritic filaments and/or tubuli became coarser, lysosomes appeared both in nerve and glial cells, and perinuclear alterations could be observed. These alterations result in the functional disturbances of the central nervous system of these experimental animals.
