Abstract
The present report is an elaboration of the ALGOL 60 report (2). It describes the programming language ALGOL 60, which is defined in (2), in a more pedagogical, and there- fore less precise, way than in the ALGOL report. The main vehicle for the description of ALGOL in the present report is the discussion of a series of simple ALGOL programs in which the number of different ALGOL structures and their complexity increase gradually. Apart from the difference in presentation, the language described in this paper is to the best of my knowledge s identical with ALGOL 60 as defined in (2).Keywords
