Anisotropic Resistivity under Uniaxial Pressure in PTC Ceramics

Abstract
Two kinds of PTC ceramics with the same Curie point and with different temperature dependence of resistivity were prepared. Pressure dependence of resistivity in the parallel and perpendicular directions to uniaxial compression was measured. Anisotropy in piezoresistance was found, and significant hysteresis in the pressure-resistance curve which was not seen under hydrostatic pressure was observed. Change of piezoresistance was closely related to temperature dependence of resistivity, however, it is not able to interpretate by the stress-induced shift of the Curie point. Temperature dependence of piezoresistance was relatively monotonous even if near the Curie point.Keywords
